Going beyond life insurance, Northwestern Mutual is now a market leader with extensive financial service offerings. Clients recognized the advances, yet the company was struggling to hire top talent out of college. Their traditional workplaces didn’t portray Northwestern Mutual as a progressive employer. Acquilano’s fresh look reenergizes the company for years to come.

Planning approximately 30K SF across three small floors creates challenges in creating a connected culture. The artful communicating feature stair serves as a social hub promoting collaboration between floors.

Material Changes
With no corporate standard and their trademark statement “Live Life Differently”, we pressed the client to think beyond the signature Corinthian columns made famous in their neo-classical 1912 headquarter building. Traditionally accepted materials like Calcutta marble, dark stained ash, and bright gold accents were selected to retain the company’s heritage while modern applications, polished accents and contemporary fixtures provide creative interest intended to appeal to both clients and rising talent entering the workforce.
